Fellow technical writers:

I am posting this job on behalf of my employer, Corfax Benefit Systems.
We require a technical writer to assist in documenting our mutual funds
and pension recordkeeping systems. This is a full-time, permanent
position.

Duties:
1. Analyzes, designs, and writes clear product material.
2. Prepares copy of manual or other documentation updates and/or
develops new manuals or other materials. This includes functional
specifications, user manuals, needs analyses, and system specifications
for internal and external clients. Circulates for revisions or
approvals; prepares the required revisions; produces the final master;
oversees the production within specified target date.
3. Edits existing materials to improve focus and understanding, and to
ensure consistency of language and style.
4. Assists business and systems staff in completion of writing projects.
5. Produces high quality products on schedule and within budget.
6. Participates in training client trainers and users through creation
of training documentation.
7. Develops on-line help modules for Windows 3.x.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills
1. B.A. in Applied Arts or English; Journalism degree/diploma; Business
Writing diploma; or equivalent experience.
2. Word 6.0 experience essential; Doc-To-Help experience an asset.
3. Good working knowledge of at least one desktop publishing package and
one graphics package. Knowledge of desktop design principles an asset.
4. Understanding of the terminology used in business and financial
services industry.
5. Strong writing and language skills.
6. Strong general understanding of technical material.
7. Ability to contribute ideas to improve technical documentation.
8. Knowledge of on-line documentation techniques.

Job Complexities/Challenges:
1. Person reports to documentation manager. Position allows for
increasing independence and responsibility as experience and familiarity
are gained with systems and products.
2. Documenting GUI systems and character-based systems.
