Good day.
I was wondering what people use to test their HTML-based documentation.
We're doing a really large HTML project and I have to assure that the
links not only link to something, but that they link to the right
something.
We've found a tool from Segue called "Surf" that creates a baseline of
links. You verify the baseline, then run against it. Surf creates a
difference report. This is as close to idea as I'm likely to get. It
also costs more than $2000, which is, in my book a little steep...
What does anyone out there use? (The project is likely to top out at
about 1000 pages, so manual testing just isn't an option.)
(If this is off-topic, sorry, but it is part of my job as a tech writer
to identify a tool for this.)
(Also, I realize I haven't done a digest about the web management tool
query I made before Christmas. That's because we're still working out
the issue. So far, we've decided we need more than just global search
and replace. Currently, we're up in the air between something called
NetObjects Fusion and a macro processor that will allow us to store
repeated material in separate include files. I'll let you all know what
the final answer is.)
