Another difference, Kristine, is that writers usually (in high tech
industries at least) considerably more money. Also, in all of the
organizations that tech writer friends and I work, non even use an
"editor" anymore. All writers edit their own stuff.

A technical writer writes technical material while a technical editor edits
the same.
