We all talk about this thing called online documentation. However, I'm always wary to
interpret this correctly for my own purposes.
I'm also careful to think about what we all mean by technical communicator. In a current
survey of ASTC members herein Australia there is a very heavy emphasis on communicators
working with computer documentation.
Where does that leave people like myself who are involved with procedures/policy
documentation? Much of what is written by Horton, Hackos, Brockman etc is still very
applicable to us, but there is a limit to "chunking" a 64 paragraph policy statement.
I am currently involved with legal publishing (a HUGE industry throughout the world).
Our publications are going electronic at an extremely fast pace.
Are there any user groups etc for people like myself? Any publications?
