Observation...

I once worked for a configuration group, with a very qualified programmer/
configuration manager as a supervisor.

I helped edit the user and program maintenance manuals for a large
software system. The software development group wanted manuals that
were informative, accurate, and easy to follow.

Good grammar was rarely mentioned or commended.
If the instructions weren't clear enough, the supervisor would use his
favorite quip: "be pacific".
