Anyone know anything about MARTIF?

Subject: Anyone know anything about MARTIF?

Don't know if anyone's asked about this recently because I've been off
the listserv for awhile and have just resubscribed. So my apologies in
advance if this subject has been discussed already.

I'm looking for information on MARTIF (MAchine-Readable Terminology
Interchange Format). All I know about it at this point is that MARTIF
is a draft international standard (DIS) that defines a structure or format
for storing terminology information. The standard apparently also defines
fields of information in a terminology database and contains tags for
terms based onthe part of speech the term represents. This last item leads
me to believe that it's probably based in SGML.

I don't know if MARTIF is an ISO standard or an standard of some other
organization.

I also understand that MARTIF is a derivative of a previous system
called MATER, which was used for data stored on tape.

I've looked a bit out on the WWW, but I haven't been able to find
anything about MARTIF. So if anyone out there can give me more
information or point me to other sources, I would appreciate it! Thanks!
