I just recently joined this list and have found it to be incredibly
informative, however, I have a request for advice anyone is willing to share
with an upcoming grad. I will be completing an English degree in May '97
and am planning on a career in Technical Writing/Editing. How can I best
prepare myself to enter this field as a new grad?

Secondly, I have been advised to take a few computer programming courses. I
was told by my computer science dept. to take the basic intro to computer
science which skims the various types of programming and then to take the
course in C programming. Is this going to be valuable enough to add to my
already full-time load or is there something else I should look at? I've
taken an introductory course to the Internet(which was quite pug) and plan
on taking a course on HTML design. I am also taking the only tech writing
course offered this fall.

I am getting in touch with my local STC chapter as well and plan on
attending the regional conference in October. I would be grateful for any
and all information, advice, or experiences any of you would be willing to
share!

Thanks in advance!
