SEEKING TECHNICAL WRITER
Documentum, a profitable, fast-growing, 5-yr-old software company has a
position for technical writer with 3 - 6 years experience writing for a
technical audience.

ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Our product is document management software. It is object-oriented and
architected on the client/server model. The server, which runs on Unix and
NT machines, is a layer on top of an RDBMS (currently Oracle & Sybase). It
provides library services, versioning, workflow, and security and access
control for documents and other objects in the system. Our client is a
graphical user interface that runs on Windows, Macintosh, and Motif,
providing fast, easy access to documents for end users.

The supporting documentation consists of user guides, reference and
installation manuals, system administration guides, programming guides, and
online help.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The writer will have responsibility for the server documentation set.
Currently, this consists of four manuals - the user guide, reference manual,
system administration manual, and the installation manuals - plus the
release notes. As the product grows in depth and sophistication, the writer
will enhance the exisiting manuals and/or propose and write additional
manuals as needed. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

This position offers great scope. Our department is small and the
documentation is "young." This means that you will have the opportunity to
contribute ideas and help shape the future of the documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have 3-6 years experience writing for a
technical audience, experience working with FrameMaker, knowledge of SQL,
and an understanding of the basic concepts of object-oriented programming
and client/server technology. Pluses are: ability to create/ maintain
FrameMaker templates and to write/use Word macros.

Documentum is an equal opportunity employer.
