I am, with great glee, removing FrameMaker in favor of WinWord from my
new department. I am only producing CRC for reproduction with paper
plates and don't need to have fancy electronic files. (My reasons for
doing so are that FrameMaker is slower, badly documented, has
unpleasant technical support, is much more expensive, doesn't support
Windows help tools, and is much more difficult to find writers for.)
One of my staff has done a Word macro that assigns the relevant styles
in the Word template based on the tags in the FrameMaker document.
That takes care of most of it.

Only a couple days to build such a macro.

I'm not a fan of page viewing software like Acrobat, but one argument
for doing this is that you then aren't releasing source document files
to the public.
