TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Single spacing has NOTHING to do with laziness. The advent of
photocomposition typesetting and now desktop publishing, which primarily
call for fully justified formats and even word spacing throughout the
line, make one space between sentences "correct." It is no more
"correct" to have two spaces over one or one rather than two; however
since internet servers and many word processing software packages ignore
a second space, that ought to tell you something! :-)
Since one space is a "correct" styling convention, I say USE IT!
