OPEN PORT TECHNOLOGY, INC., located near Water Tower on Michigan Avenue in
Chicago, seeks a TECHNICAL WRITER for an immediate full-time opening.
Projects will include user guides for Windows, Mac, OS/2 Warp, X (Motif)
client applications and system administration manuals for NT Server and UNIX
applications. Online help development from doc source to platform-specific
and HTML formats. Potential involvement in system design and planning.
Candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration:
* 4 year degree in English or Communications.
* 3+ years SOFTWARE documentation experience in client/server, user and
system administration guides.
* STRONG editing skills.
* GUI application doc experience -- particular to screen shot manipulation
and insertion into documentation
* Independent worker -- must quickly / accurately research and assimilate
information from developers (verbal and written source).
* Expert level usage of the following software:
- Windows NT (or 95)
- MS Office for 95 (32-bit -- specifically Word 7.0)
- CorelDraw Suite -- CorelCapture and Corel Photo-PAINT
- ftp, pkzip / WinZip
* Working comprehension / understanding of:
- DocToHelp 2.0 (preferred -- v1.x acceptable)
- UNIX
- Windows NT (server)
- Client / server applications
- Email
* Pluses:
- OS/2 Warp Connect familiarity
- OS/2 screen capture utilities
- RoboHelp95
- AppleGuide development
- Mac screen shot utilities
