Consistency in Topic Headings

Subject: Consistency in Topic Headings

After subscribing to TECHWR-L for several months, it has occurred to me
that the listing would be much easier to search if everyone adopted some
standards in the topic headings. This same problem occurs in newsgroups
on the Internet, and some groups are electing to impose some standards in
their Subject headings for the same reasons.

For example, if one is scanning for job postings, wouldn't they be easier
to find if all such topic headings began with "Job Posting:" rather than
"Job Posting", "TW Position", "Position Avail", "Job Opening", etc., as
is the current practice? Similarly, postings about software tools could
have headings that always begin with the name of the tool, e.g., "Frame:"
or "MS Word:" so that they too could be found quickly.

Just a suggestion . . .
