Don writes "...So what did the degrees and certificates do for me? They got me the interview...."
Don, I think that's really a simplification of the benefits of education. Sure, I think there are good tech writers that don't have the formal education, but I know I have called upon my "formal" education frequently....not just for tech writing info, but also the algebra, calculus, engineering, grammar, research skills, etc. and other knowledge I gained in college. Don't discredit the "total" education benefit.
