I am gainfully employed by a company which develops and manufactures Point
of Sales systems, inclusive of hardware, software, and documentation.
Our company is in the process of consolidating and/or determining names for
products. I believe that we should also be able to state naming conventions
or "rules" and henceforth be able to generate names for new products. Can
anyone offer up magazine articles (STC-type), book titles, web sites,
friendly advice, and the like (or is that ilk) on methodologies for doing this?
What I'm looking for is information such as:
1. When might you use "system" in naming a product.
2. When is something a "controller".
3. Is something ever a "unit".
