Marilynne Smith agreed:

I agree with Marilynne...however, another possibility does come to mind.
Last time I checked, the STC had a total membership of around 20,000
worldwide. Last time I heard, this list had approximately 2,000
subscribers. Although I'm sure we don't all belong to the STC, our
subscribership represents around 10% of its membership. Pollsters and
statistics experts consider 10% a high-end percentage for a representative
sampling of a population. Possibly the issues we discuss here are of major
interest to technical communicators in general. I did notice the high
incidence of familiar topics in this month's issue, but my conclusion was
that us Techwhirlers just represent the interests of the larger population
of technical communicators.

Just my opinion, folks.
