Gwen, I wrote the original post about people with no experience
applying for jobs, and I gave the woman from the print shop as an
example. I did not mean to imply that she was unqualified merely
because of her present job, and I apologize if I gave that
impression. I was complaining about people who have no writing
experience at all who respond to an ad calling for several years of
experience. (And the fact that this job was several grades above mine
added insult to injury) Since you say you realized you were *already*
a better writer than those whose writing you were typesetting, you
must have already been writing. It's one thing to apply for a job
that you're 70% or 80% qualified for (who hasn't!), it's another to
apply to be a writer when you haven't ever written anything.
