Our department is looking into establishing some company-wide documentation
usability testing procedures if we can narrow doc testing down to some
concrete sequence of steps that have a proven benefit. My first ideas for
sources of doc usability testing ideas are DEC's "Guide to Creating User
Information" and the Dumas/Redish "Practical Guide to Usability Testing". I
think the second book may be more useful, but unfortunately I don't have a
copy of it.
My questions for the knowledgeable members of this list:
1) Do you know of any other good sources of documentation usability info?
2) Can anyone familiar with the Dumas/Redish book tell me what they have to
say about doc usability testing, if anything?
3) Has anyone established such testing at their company and would be they be
willing to share some of the details with me?
