Dear Human Resources,
Your advertisement on the Techwr-L listing prompted me to submit my resume
to you. I am interested in relocating to your area and would like to talk
to you about the possibility of contributing my talents to your
organization. I will mail a hardcopy as well as sending you this electronic
file.
My educational credentials include a Magna Cum Laude BA from Capital
University in Columbus, Ohio in Professional Writing and Computer Science
and a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Kent State University.
My verbal, written, and technical comprehension skills are well documented
and can be verified through my personal references.
My previous experience includes five years writing and editing software
training and user technical reference manuals for the accounting and
manufacturing environment using SYMIX software. My experience also includes
organizing their documentation department and supervising up to six
technical writers. Working as a team, we created the department style guide
and file nomenclature system still in use, as well as 22 manuals in four
versions of the software. I have also completed projects documenting mining
equipment, sand shell core foundry equipment, computer hardware peripheral
equipment and telecommunications switching equipment.
My exposure and knowledge of computers and software could also be an asset
to you. I have learned Word for Windows, Ventura, Pagemaker and FrameMaker
and used them extensively to produce camera ready copy for printing the
manuals. I have recently begun on-line documentation preparation for the
telecommunication industry and worked with HTML tagging processes for the
Webb Internet. My graphics interface includes CorelDraw 4. My experience
also includes Excel and Lotus 1,2,3. CD-ROM technology is also familiar to
me. I was the Spanish liason when I worked at Dow Chemical and would need
to brush up on my vocabulary to become fluent.
I would appreciate the opportunity of explaining to you in a personal
interview how my talents could help your company. Rather than be so bold as
to say that I will call you, may I suggest that you phone me at your
convenience to arrange for a personal conversation? My home phone number is
(614) 491-3012 if you have any questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Louise Mayberry
