I try to overcome that by using the Word's annotation feature. Inserts a
hidden marker and lets you add text that can be optionally printed or not.
Very useful when there are a number of people working on the document. I use
it to ask questions to programmers, to insert reminders for future revisions
(prog. said such and such would be fixed in the future, etc.)
When I print the final copy, these don't show anywhere. When I print drafts
or review the document on-line, I toggle hidden text on.
