That's one of the key concerns SGML advocates keep promoting. Information is
almost always going to outlive the systems and people that created it. With
SGML encoded data, you have unambiguous, product-and-platform independent
content to work with, instead of ambiguous format codes that can rarely be
converted 100% cleanly to the hot new publishing environment.
