No no no! The question is what ones skills are worth, not what one requires. By
the "your cost of living" logic a fry-slinger at McDonalds could earn 100K
based on having lots of kids or a hefty mortgage, while a single, frugal
doctor/CEO/Supreme Court Justice would take home maybe 15K.
Ask for what *your* market (experience, specialization, location, etc etc etc)
generally pays. And remember that any company that wants to screw you over a
few thousand dollars (which means a lot to you but, if they're successful
enough to be using an agency, not all that much to them) will most likely screw
you over more important stuff, too.
