TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Rewarding reviewers might be a nice idea, but who pays for all these
reward goodies. My salary certainly wouldn't cover them (:-)), and on the
serious side, I don't think the department or university admin would
approve the cost either.
Do the reviewers have a stake in the final product? Here, they do - they
like to know that the technical information they provide the pubs office
is correct, that written descriptions of how things work are correct, etc.
Some are slower than others, some are hard to talk to, but most are very
cooperative and helpful.
