Dave made many good points in his post, and I agree with them.
I am in a Word 6.0 shop now, but we produce mostly on-line help
(with Robohelp 2.6 and Word 2, BTW). Our end-user documents are small
tutorial-style manuals. We also produce Requirements and Functional
Specs for internal audiences. The Reqs and Specs are quite large
and it is difficult to produce them using Word, but since we don't
have to produce large user documents, we haven't rioted (yet).

So I would say if you are producing large documents for an
external audience, you *need * Frame. We could use it, but it
would be a luxury for us. We can "scrape by" using Word 6.

Dave, I really like your tool analogy! That's how we feel when
we're trying to produce the large docs in Word! Sheesh!
