So what about the weird font names like Zapf Dingbats, TrumpetLite,
Thunderbird, etc. (did you know P.T. Barnum has his own font!)
Just curious as to who comes up with these names!

Names are created by the font designer, in the case of Zapf Dingbats the creator
was Herman(?) Zapf. "Dingbats" refers to the fact there are no letters, only
strange symbols in this font. Apple appears to have started a trend of naming
fonts for cities. Sometimes the names relate to the origins of the design, for
example GoodCity Modern is an updating of one of Gutenberg's original faces. In
many other cases the name had meaning only to the designer.
