Unfortunately, the ability to reply easily is not so much a function
of the list being in digest form, as it is what kind of mail handler
you use to look at your mail.
If your mail handler can recognize a digest format, then it should
be possible to "cut up" the digest into individual messages, and
then proceed as you would as if you didn't get a digest.
Alternatively some scripts could shred the digest mailing into
individual messages, and mail them back to you so the normal mail
handler can do its stuff. A little bit of work, but the cpu power is in
your box, and not at Eric's site. That's the tradeoff.
If you're on a Unix box, there are several mailhandlers that can
handle the digest format: MH, mailagent, and I think elm. There are
others.
