Several people previously have expressed a distaste for the word
'desire' (as well as 'wish') in technical writing. It would probably
be better to try to find a more appropriate synonym.

Instead of "Select the vault in which the file for which you want to
change the number of versions resides," how 'bout "Select the vault in
which the desired file resides"? The introduction to the procedure
steps should provide sufficient context for the user to know what he
or she wants to do with the file and why.
