I have nothing to quote on this, but IMHO, the text in the vertical box
should face the page text, whether placed to the right or the left.
Thus, the baseline for text in the left hand box would lie on the right
side of the box--or toward the page. If the box were on the right hand
side of the page, I would reverse it.
