Amen to Ron Miller's response! "Pretend" tech writing for drummed up
scenarios (i.e. how to change a bike tire, how to fry an egg, etc.) can't
begin to demonstrate a writer's true capabilities. It seems to me that about
all a prospective employer could garner from it for sure would be the
knowledge that the applicant can spell and punctuate correctly. I have a
mountain of manuals that I've written for various devices that showcase my sty
le and my abilities better than anything else can.
I'm sure happy to hear that there are legal issues involved. It saves us from
insult.
