Not necessarily. If "words go" (or if printed docs and online help files go)
and the
company is really concerned with selling a usable product, it means technical
communicators are working with programmers and designers to integrate the
communication process into the application. The nature of the medium and the
part
of the development process in which the technical communicator works changes,
but
it doesn't necessarily - and shouldn't - eliminate the technical communicator's
job.
In fact, I personally enjoy working as part of a development team much more
than
working on "docs." I feel like my work is really getting used instead of
sitting on a
shelf, and through that, users are getting to do their work more easily.
