If the object is the item of importance to the reader passive voice is
correct. The example I always use is a couple of headlines one might see on
the day after the NFL draft:

* In the Dallas Morning News: Cowboys Sign "Freezer" Bigshoulders

* In the Podunk Prowler, hometown newspaper of the first-round choice:
"Freezer" Signed by Dallas Cowboys
