CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
The 4th Annual STC Region 6 Technical Communications Conference
will be held October 21 and 22 at Jumer's Castle Lodge in
Bettendorf, Iowa.
Dr. Susan Benjamin, founder of Words at Work International, will provide
the keynote address; then, participants may attend three (one-hour)
presentations, choosing from the following general topics:
writing and editing; science and technology; education, training,
and professional development; or visual communication. James
Prekeges, media producer for Microsoft, will deliver the closing
address. In addition, participants may browse vendor displays
and the winning publications from the 1994 STC Technical
Publications Competition.
Frank Smith, editor of _Technical Communication_ will be the
featured speaker in a post-conference workshop on "Styles and
Standards" and Joyce Woods, Region 6 director-sponsor, and George
Hayhoe, assistant to the president for recognition programs will
lead a workshop on "Developing Chapter Leaders."
If paid by September 23, conference fees are $60 for STC members,
$20 for STC student members, and $70 for non-STC members.
