Beth Vollbach declares:
>I pick pronouncing it "S-Q-L" and using "an."

One of our old hardware products is called, quite unimaginatively, a
Front End Processor, or FEP. Unfortunately, some people say F-E-P, while
others say Fep. We writers always write "an FEP". Trainers, who *say*
the term an awful lot, write "a FEP". Pity the student, who gets our
an-FEP manuals as well as Training's a-FEP handouts.
