There are any number of articles that mention both Gopher and some Web
Browser or other. Often, these articles mention some feature that makes
one or the other preferable in a given situation.
Does anyone know of any user studies that have been done (particularly for
a CWIS) measuring retrievability/speed/user preference for Gophers and Web
Browsers?
There are a number of places that have set up the same (or similar) CWIS
information on both gopher and web browser. Which do students prefer? How
about faculty? What research has been done into how people use/perceive
either of these systems?
This question may fall into the Unanswerable Mac/PC Holy War type category,
but I thought someone might have done/know about some research on the topic
and could tell me about it. This list was recommended as being particularly
knowledgable in these sorts of things; I haven't had any luck anywhere
else.
I'm not a member of the list so please send responses to me. Thanks.
Best regards,
Pete
