I remember from my Print Shop class in high school that "mixed-up
type" is called "pied." My dictionary defines "pi" or "pie" as a
bunch of scrambled type. Origin unknown. And, yes, sorting type
is a pain. Just learning to distinguish "b," "d," and "p" took
a couple of weeks!
