Frame is a really good package. It works with graphics very well and has some
really good "leg work" features such as its conditional text feature.
Do you have any requirements that would limit your choices for software? For
example, do your documents need to be machine readable by anyone else (such as
updating by configuration management)? Since this is your company's first
experience with a pubs type person, there may be a number of things that just
don't
immeadiately occur to them (I've been on this road before). You may have to
guide them in some the choices because, in this case, being in the minority
also
means being the expert. You also may have trouble getting equipment that is
specific to a tech pubs group because there may be a lack of understanding
about its function or use and how this relates to your job because it won't
relate to anyone else's job.
Good luck in your new endeavor. It may be very frustrating at first, but as
your company learns about publications it will get better. In the mean time,
keep some asprin in your desk.
