I've been looking at a thing called HyperHelp from Bristol
Technologies because I'll soon be writing help for the Motif
version of our product.
The good news is that HyperHelp looks pretty good (although
we haven't actually got it -- I'm judging from the literature
and the demo). It looks a lot like Windows help. The bonus
for me is that it accepts Windows help files as input, which
is really helpful because I'm currently building help for the
Windows version of our product. If everything works and the
help gods are smiling, I'll only have to write and maintain one
set of help files.
The bad news is that it is licensed.
You can reach Bristol at info -at- bristol -dot- com or (203) 438-6969,
I hope there are other responses... I'd like to comparison shop.
