I've been thinking about the impact of AI-based tech writing. Some
aspects look like neat tools that'll speed our work, but the downside
may turn out to be our nemesis, an anonymous and evil fellow who makes
our work impossible. The people who ought asking us to write docs will
instead say, "Here's the doc, all finished except for a final check.
Just make sure it looks right. Tomorrow morning, okay?" Careful study
will reveal it to be a piece of crap "written" by some freelancer who is
good at milking ChatGPT.
If we correctly understand that "almost finished" project we'll see that
although it looks good at first glance, it needs a total refactoring.
Our task, should we choose to accept it, will be to sell the "already
decided" management on the need to do the job right, not just this time
(if possible), but the next several times as well.
