Subject: Re: Digital Adoption Tools
You’re not going to get away from cookie notifications. We can thank
privacy and security policies for those.
As for WhatFix and Pendo, the pop-ups are usually opened when a user clicks
a triggering element. Or, the user is expecting a site that opens from a
“Start Trial” call-to-action to provide pop-ups as part of the guided tour.
My main concerns with these systems is that they require the app to load
the script library from the vendor’s server, and the content for the
experience also lies on their servers. I helped a team to add some
JavaScript code to a Pendo implementation. While it was cool, it makes me
leery that someone might use the ability for evil and not good.
Mission critical systems have historically run on standalone subnetworks
that aren’t connected to the Internet. At a former company we maintained
on-premises installable software for that reason. While WhatFix has an
on-premises option, the application must use a browser-based app client.
I’d like for more vendors to decouple their servers from the experience and
allow enterprises to publish from our CCMS directly to the data sets. Not
sure if that’s ever going to be possible. But those features are on my
radar.
