I agree that the skills we have are similar. I was able to find an online program that was relatively inexpensive that gave me the education I needed to get started. I think it was called Watermark Learning. https://www.watermarklearning.com/business-process-management-training/

But you can check Udemy (they have $10.99 classes today, and Coursera for some inexpensive education. I'm glad I took the class. It made me feel more confident about what I was doing, it helped me with the language, and I learned a few things about but the overall skills were those I learned from developing applications and examining the flow of data and processes from years of doing that type of work.

The current BA positions are data analyst, systems analyst with Sql etc etc rolled into it. Back in the day a BA was super close to a tech writer role just on the opp side of the software cycle. Not anymore.

Cbap is the cert you need but it needs s good chunk of hours doing the BA work. Joining the iiba is a good start to gather all the info you would need.
