That's an excellent article with great illustrations.

In modern applications, the line between front-end engineer and UI
designer is blurry or nonexistent. Wichary does a great job of
translating his typographer's deep knowledge of type layout into terms
that coders building front ends with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS can
understand and use to make better products.
