If you haven't already done so, first be sure you understand where the paranoia comes from, how high up the food chain it originates and whether anyone else has previously tried and failed to dislodge it.

If it comes from high up, don't expect Marketing, Sales or Customer Support to stick their necks out to change it, because they're probably already doing something to go around it, like creating "ghost" users and giving out their logins.

As Erika said, choose your battles wisely.
