Hi there,

I am taking a poll to see how many writers work off site from their employer
or as a contractor what are some of the challenges that you face while off

Well - I've been an employee for over a year, and have been to Corporate for three days - and one of them was for a company picnic.
Due to software challenges, I had to go into a field office for most of a week last year.
The rest of the time, I've been happily remote.
With Skype, I stay in touch with the other techwriter and other members of our team. So far, it has worked splendidly.
We've developed a good working relationship. Also, our management has done a number of things to get us acquainted with each other. That helps.

When I worked remotely as a contractor, I never had other techwriters to bounce ideas off of, and often it was a struggle to stay in touch with SMEs.
That got lonely. This is better.
