TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
What version of FM are you using? I'm using FM 2015 (as part of Tech Comm
Suite 2015 -- not sure if that makes any difference), and I just did this in
order to create a new doc that's very similar to another doc. I renamed the
.book file in Explorer, opened the newly-renamed book file, and within FM
did the file rename (by right-clicking on a .fm file in the open .book
file). All references were properly updated, with no broken links (xrefs and
ToC).
Maybe you're using some other procedure to do the renaming?
