Kari Gulbrandsen asked, "re there any reasons to have an index for an online
help system with full
text search capability?"
An Index is an alternative to search for traditionalists who are used to
using them in hardcopy/PDF docs or older help system formats that included
them. It's hard to formulate useful search queries if you don't know the
term you need to find the functionality you're looking for. Well-crafted
indexes traditionally also provide cross references to indicate the
appropriate topic names, if the application has new terminology
