Many

One might ask if there is a reason to have a laser guided missile when we have nuclear bombs available.

An Index is very similar to the laser guided missile. Properly created, it will more efficiently lead the user to the exact information they are looking for. On the other hand, a nuclear bomb certainly clobbers the bad guys but has lots of collateral damage. Likewise, if all that is offered is a search, it's up to the end user to wade through the search results pondering if each of them contains the information they may be seeking.

Hello, all --

Are there any reasons to have an index for an online help system with full
text search capability?

Thanks all!

Kari.
