I once interviewed someone who had provided samples of work he claimed to
have created. Knowing a bit about the previous company, I was aware that
they often hired writers on a temporary basis to update their user manuals,
and a quick look through the samples showed at least three different styles
of writing. I suspected that the candidate had merely updated current
documentation, as opposed to being the initial creator, and that raised
another concern as to whether or not he would be able to follow a
document's style when updating existing material.
