One of the reasons why I love the e-mail format of my mailing lists is
because I use G-mail to manage my lists. Comment thread that I'm not
interested in? I just ignore the entire thread. Something I think might
be useful for later? I star the comment, or the entire conversation.

Usually when I have a technical writing question, I mine the several years
worth of data in my G-mail inbox before I turn to Google, because *I* have
already curated the content and know that if I marked it as relevant, that
it might actually be useful.

To the best of my knowledge, I can't search or bookmark content on
LinkedIn. Facebook doesn't necessarily show everyone in a group or that
has liked your page every post that you make (users have to interact with
content to keep seeing it in their feeds, posters may have to pay to
"promote" posts). And I don't participate on Twitter, but it seems to me
that the 140 character format is rather limiting to any sort of deep
discussion.
