TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
About 20 years I got fired for posting to techwirl. Literally marched off the premises for "disclosing classified information" (someone on the list was curious about the company I worked for so I copied a few paras out of one of our public publicity brochures). Luckily, my dismissal was quashed by the court and I stayed on for another couple of years.
I used to post a lot, but for the past 12 years or so I've only listened. The stuff I'm doing now - auto generated code documentation, wiki on a stick to replace online help, agile software development, is so specific that I doubt anyone would be interested.
