The news actually has a musical intro beneath a voice over summary of what
to expect. I watched 10 seasons of Smallville over a span of months and
enjoyed the intro the first couple of times. Afterwards, I felt, "get me to
the story already!" Same with Bones and Haven, even though I like those
shows.
Heroes, Fringe, Castle, Agents of Shield have an audio signature beneath
their title, which works great.
Strangely, I'll never grow tired of the Big Bang Theory, Friends, and
Greatest American Hero theme songs.
But for technical training/programming tutorials, I really don't like
O'Reilly or Pragmatic Press intros. It's the same cheesy B-Movie loop that
comes stock with most video editing software. I'm trying to remember if my
Learnable videos start with intros.
So I guess whatever works for your audience.
