Re: hyphen use: tip up vs. tip-up

I am writing a series of manuals for a milling machine that has a work
table referred to as a "Tip Up Table/Tip-Up Table" (via customer
requirement) and I am having a hard time establishing how I should handle
the wording. The table is the noun Tip Up Table (with or without hyphens) -
then I have the actions of moving the table, which are to be constituted as
the motion tip up or tip down and their approperiate forms, tipped tipping
etc... always to be followed with up or down.  My battle is - do I use
hyphens or not, and if I do, should I use them for the verb and not the
nouns or vice versa - or use them everywhere or no where?  Please help - HM
